Topics RoseWynde

RoseWynde released their third CD Winter Ayres, presenting Celtic Christmas tunes, Baroque selections, and the best music of the Winter Season. Winter Ayres presents the most beautiful music of the Baroque by Vivaldi, Pergolesi, and Tartini. It includes the heartfelt Christmas tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and England like Wexford Carol, Auld Lang Syne, Here We Come A-Wassailing, and Sussex Carol, including traditional music of the Season with, What Child Is This, Away in the Manger, Jeanette Isabella, and more. This CD creates a mood for the winter journey. From harvest to the darkening of the days, through to the New Year and the return of the light. RoseWynde has two other CDs under the Sunridge Studio label and performs. Walking Tune is a collection of freshly arranged Celtic and American melodies, selections from Suite for Jazz Flute and Piano, and Riverdance. Distant Ayres features Suite Antique by John Rutter, Debussy Syrinx, and new lyrical arrangements of traditional songs and hymns. ALRY Music has published our arrangements and has sheet music available. RoseWynde performs throughout the beautiful Willamette Valley in Oregon. Inspired by pastoral settings and dramatic landscapes set between the coastal mountains and the majestic volcanic peaks of the Cascade range, RoseWynde's music is lyrical and fresh; yet as well-grounded as the bucolic traditions of the valley . Sandy Duffy Norman and Kathryn Cater found a kinship, not only in their love of both classical and traditional music, but in their devotion to students, dogs, and the garden. Sandy plays a handmade gold Powell flute and Kathy plays a rosewood Aoyama Musa. Sandy Duffy Norman lives in Salem, Oregon where she is a teacher and a flutist. As flutist with RoseWynde flute and harp duo, she has released two CDs, Walking Tune and Distant Ayres, under the Sunridge Studio label. Sandy has maintained a private studio in Salem, OR since 1984 and taught band for 15 years. She performed for the 1998, 2000, and 2003 NFA Conventions and serves on the board of directors for the Greater Portland Flute Society. Sandy received her B.S.Mus and B.M.E. from LSU, and belongs to the MENC/OMEA, NFA and OEA. Kathryn Cater is an arranger and composer who teaches at her studio on her century farm near Portland. She has just completed two books of harp songs for students, In the Garden and Harping Cats and Dogs. Kathryn has played professionally for 20 years. Her repertoire ranges from folk and pop music to "classical", and she enjoys the challenge of selecting just the right music for every occasion. Kathryn has performed many concerts, weddings, parties, and special services in Portland and throughout the Willamette Valley. Kathryn has two solo harp recordings. And most recently has released three CDs with RoseWynde.

A crystalline breath sharp is drawn, as you step from hearth and candle, Outside to the glitter of an icy dawn. Walk fast in the snow and slow in the frost. Feel the grass crunch underfoot, every fence, every tree as white as white can be. Across the fields snow drops drooping on their stalks, Holly and mistletoe etched in silver lace. There in your own backyard Your heart stands still, eyes grow bright, Winter Ayres tells its song with silent light.

God send you a happy New Year

If you want to know how to catagorize RoseWynde I think the best genre classification for this would be to call it New Age. I give this three stars.
